FAQs

Are there any fees for vendors, or for customers?

No. The Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte has no interest, no account fees, no service fees, no administrative fees, and no surcharges. Brighte will not charge the Vendor any fees and Vendors are not permitted to charge customers any fees, loadings, or on-costs in connection with the loan or the supply and installation of approved products. The only exception is a late payment fee of $4.99 for customers, capped at $49.90 per year.

What if the customer's project costs more than $15,000?

The Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte covers up to $15,000. If the total project cost exceeds this, the customer must fund the difference themselves. It must remain a separate facility and cannot be rolled into or merged with another financial product. You must not charge the customer any fees, surcharges, or on-costs in connection with the Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte portion.

Can I charge the customer any fees?

No. Customers must not be charged, required to pay, or otherwise incur any fees, charges, loadings, on-costs, or other amounts in relation to their Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte or the supply and installation of any related approved product. This includes merchant fees, service fees, administrative fees, surcharges, or any other direct or indirect costs.

Can a customer apply for multiple loans?

Yes. Customers may apply for more than one Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte over the life of the program, provided the total across all loans for the same property does not exceed $15,000. For example, a customer might take out a $9,000 loan for solar and a battery, then later apply for a $6,000 loan for a heat pump water heater.

Do I need to help customers access other government incentives?

Yes. Before a customer receives a Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte, you must ensure that any relevant incentives or benefits available through existing Commonwealth and/or NSW government energy programs are first applied to the customer. Customers can check their eligibility for the Home Energy Saver discount at energy.nsw.gov.au/home-energy-saver, and explore other incentives available under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS). These programs can reduce the total system cost and the customer's associated loan amount. If the customer wants to apply for a discount and loan, they must apply for the discount first. Households can check their eligibility and apply for the discount at energy.nsw.gov.au/home-energy-saver

What government registers do I need to use?

Depending on the product type, you may need to reference or register with: the Clean Energy Regulator's SRES scheme (for solar PV and batteries), the CEC approved components list (for solar modules, inverters, and batteries), the AEMO DER Register (solar and battery installations must be registered), the GEMS registry (for air conditioners), the IPART Accepted Products List (for heat pump and solar water heaters), and the NSW Consumer Energy Resources Installer Portal (when released in the future).
