With Australia leading with the world in rooftop solar adoption — and showing no signs of slowing down — there is a growing opportunity for women electricians to make the most of the boom and build a brighter future, today.

As net-zero becomes a national priority and we transition to clean energy there is a huge opportunity for building a career in solar. In fact, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) projects that around 34,400 new jobs are expected to be created between now and 2035 in the renewable energy sector.

To support the increasing number of Australian women working in trades, we’ve launched the Brighte Women in Solar Scholarship in the ACT.

Brighte Women in Solar Scholarship

We’re offering five scholarships at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) for female electricians or apprentices who wish to obtain a qualification in battery storage systems and grid connect photovoltaic systems in 2022. Each scholarship is valued at $2,250 and will contribute to student fees across the period of study.

Brighte will also fund the Clean Energy Council (CEC) accreditation for the five female CIT students who are awarded scholarships. Accreditation with the CEC recognises tradespeople who are trained to install solar, batteries and other renewable energy systems.

How to apply

To apply for the scholarship, candidates should download the Brighte Women in Solar Scholarship Fund 2022 Application Form and submit it to ilsar.stuart@cit.edu.au by 5pm on 21 February 2022.
