We’re partnering with Origin, one of Australia’s largest energy providers, to help make batteries more affordable for households across Australia.
Eligible customers will receive a $1,500 sign-up bonus (termination fees and terms & conditions apply)* when they connect their home battery to Origin Loop VPP, Origin’s virtual power plant (VPP) and discharge some of their stored energy back to the grid, at times of peak demand in the network.
Helping our vendors access more households
We’re working with our network of accredited vendors and installers to offer Origin Loop VPP to more households with the incentive of a $1,500 sign-up bonus*. While households can reduce the upfront costs of purchasing a battery by using Brighte finance, they can still connect to Origin Loop VPP without having to take up Brighte financing.
“This partnership with Origin is a significant step for Brighte and our vendor network. We’re always working on new opportunities for our vendors to grow their business and look at ways to accelerate battery uptake across Australia. This offer is an example of how sustainability can be made affordable and accessible to households across the country”, said Brighte founder and CEO Katherine McConnell.
Brendan Manzie, Origin General Manager Future Energy, notes “Brighte has the largest network of vendors across Australia that we can work with, and by teaming up, we’re removing barriers to join Origin Loop VPP and we’re excited to welcome even more households to the program.”
How does Origin Loop VPP benefit customers?
Customers with a solar and battery system connected to Origin Loop VPP typically save 60% on their energy bills**, depending on the size of their system and daily energy use, as well as helping to ease pressure on the energy grid during periods of peak demand. Additionally, the $1,500 bonus* could help to reduce the payback period on the battery investment. A win-win!
What are the benefits of Origin Loop VPP?
Origin Loop VPP functions like a virtual power plant (often referred to as a VPP) that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to manage supply and demand in the energy network across more than 130,000 connected devices around Australia, including home solar and battery systems.
Origin Loop VPP currently contributes 449 megawatts to the electricity grid, with an ambition to reach 2 gigawatts by FY26.
We’re proud of this partnership with Origin, it is another example of Brighte partnering with leading Australian organisations to help accelerate the transition towards net zero emissions and create a more sustainable future.
