Commonwealth Bank FAQ's

Together with CommBank, Brighte have developed a solution to support Australians on their journey to a more sustainable future.

With millions of customers nationwide, their focus is on providing financial solutions that enable meaningful steps towards creating more energy-efficient homes. 

Program Overview

Together with Brighte, Commonwealth Bank of Australia have set out to connect their customers with trusted installers and suppliers, making it easier for homeowners to choose the right sustainable energy solutions with confidence. 

For selected Brighte accredited vendors, this program offers access to qualified leads from CommBank, streamlined quoting, and payment processing.

How does a vendor participate in the program?

Reach out to your Brighte Account Manager, they will share an Intro to the Program and submit account details for eligiblity and credit review.

Once qualified, contracts will be sent, followed by training to be completed by each sales person participating in the program 

Vendor must update their marketplace with mandatory indicative pricing on eligible products 

Who should be attending/completing the training?

We recommend sharing the training materials with everyone in your team involved in the program- including admins, sales teams, and installers. If additional training is required, Please let your Account Manager or Partnership services manager know, to assist the team.

Can vendors conduct marketing?

Refrain from actively marketing or advertising for customer acquisition. You may share or repost your involvement but must not engage in direct marketing. 

All marketing will be handled by Commbank, so do not engage in direct outreach, such as door-knocking or cold calling.

What products are eligible under the program today?

Can a vendor offer bundled products?

Yes, bundled packages can be offered for the eligible products.

What are the current offers available to the customers through Commbank x Brighte Program?

Eligible Commbank customers can get up to $1500 cashback if they apply through Brighte marketplace and choose a Commbank Home Energy Finance option

Which customers can access the program?

This is an exclusive program for CommBank customers. All lead are generated via  Home Energy Upgrades – CommBank

 

Can customers access this program alongside other government programs administered by Brighte?

No, the CommBank program is entirely separate from other government programs, and customers will not be able to use CommBank finance for government programs.

Leads

How much does a lead cost?

Currently $30 + GST
Price to be reviewed in Jan 2026.

What is the minimum lead cap?

20 leads min to participate in the program, however you can manage your spend by adjusting lead cap.

When do vendors get charged for it?

Each time a customer selects a vendor in Brighte marketplace the vendor will get charged. Billing will happen at the end of each month.

What is the criteria to dispute leads?

Reach out to your Account manager with the following information:

  • Reason to reject
  • Lead full name 
  • Mobile number
How do vendors receive leads?

You will be notified of a new lead via email. A designated contact can be set in the Brighte Portal who will receive all the leads. This should be a sales manager who actively monitors this inbox and can distribute leads to the team.

How do vendors reach out to customers when a lead is received?

Arrange a call at a time that suits the customer:
Call the customer at the agreed time if specified. If the customer does not answer, we recommend contacting customers at different times then followed by SMS/Email

Make an SMS introduction:
When you receive a lead, we recommend sending the customer an SMS to introduce yourself. This message is a great way to let them suggest the best time for you to call.

Request a call back:
If unsuccessful, leave the customer an SMS requesting them to call you back if they wish to proceed

Is Brighte going to assign vendors to customers?

In the Brighte Marketplace customers can choose whether they would like Brighte to recommend them 3 vendors or they can choose their own vendors.

Are there any API integrations between Marketplace and CRM systems?

We’ve developed webhooks feature to help streamline your data entry and keep you updated on customer status changes. 

Finance

Can customers directly apply with Commbank and then approach vendors?

Commbank customers must submit their enquiry via Home Energy Upgrades – CommBank and apply via a Brighte referral sent by the vendor only.
Any loans applied outside this journey will not be applicable for any offers/cashback

Should a vendor discuss payment options and finance with the customer?

If a customer has a finance related question, please direct them to Commbank Website, vendors must not offer financial advice on any details surrounding the CommBank finance products on offer.

Always lead with Commbank finance as method of payment for customers to be eligible for the cashback of up to $1500.

Do not engage in surcharge conduct- pricing must remain consistent regardless of payment method (e.g. finance vs cash).

Where can vendors direct customers if they ask about CommBank finance products?
Will Brighte finance be on offer, as well as CommBank?

No, this program offers CommBank finance products. 

Under no circumstances should a CommBank lead be converted into a Brighte finance agreement- any breach will result in immediate suspension. 

Referrals

Will other home electrification products be included?

Not at this stage, but we plan to launch a full suite of electrification products, with Heat Pumps to come first, in the near future.

How do vendors send out referrals to the customer?

To send out a referral, go to the leads tab, select the lead you are ready to send a referral to and click “create referral”.

You will be taken to a new referral page with prepopulated customer information. Complete the required details and make sure to attach your company quote. Once complete hit send.

Will the vendors have visibility of customer application?

Vendors will be notified via Brighte comms: 

  1. Once the customer has accepted your package
  2. Followed by once they select Commbank finance or Cash as a payment method
  3. Once their Commbank finance application is approved their application will reflect in their Brighte portal under Application Tab.
Can a vendor follow up with the customer after sending out referral?

Once the customer has accepted the referral, that's a good time to contact them and follow up on how they wish to proceed, whether through Commbank finance or cash?

Can a vendor revise pricing on a customer’s referral/quote?

Yes, at a referral/quote stage, vendors can resubmit a new referral to the customer by going into the lead and click “Create Referral”.

Referrals only with a sent status can be deleted / cancelled.
For others, vendors can resend a new referral.

Can a vendor accept deposits?

Yes, you can take deposit from the customer and add it to the referral to reflect on their balance finance amount. However, it's important to note that deposits must be paid outside of the Brighte Marketplace.

Insulation

When should vendor schedule the installation for the customer?

Once the customer has selected their preferred payment method.

For Cash
You can directly speak with the customer to finalise how they wish to pay and book them in for an install.

For Commbank finance
You must wait until their application has been approved via Commbank and it appears under Application Tab in your Brighte portal.

Is there an advisable timeframe within which the installation needs to be completed?

Ideally, you must try and install within 4-6 weeks of signing the contract. However, based on agreement with customer the goods must be installed within the agreed timeframe.

When does the approval on a Commbank finance application lapse?

Application approval expires 60 days from date of starting an application.

Will other home electrification products be included?

Settlements

What if vendors need to revise the customer’s price post approval?

Brighte expects minimal to no variations when quoting customers in this program. To help achieve this, we strongly encourage you to conduct site inspections to identify potential issues early.

You won't be able to request price increases if a variation arises. Instead, we recommend you either:

  • Request the customer pay the variation in cash for finance purchases.
  • Absorb the cost if it is minimal.
  • Have the customer resubmit their application and loan
How will vendors be paid?

Payments will be processed through Brighte, ensuring our usual fast payouts.
After the customer has confirmed their installation, a funding request is sent to CommBank which usually takes about 5 business days.  

What do vendors need to provide apart from itemised invoice?

You will also need to provide signed up to date copy of STC form for solar/battery/Hot water heat pump.

 

Do vendors receive a separate remittance for CommBank payments?

Your usual remittance will include any disbursement for CommBank installs with a tag of “CBA”.
