- The NSW Government has announced a $290m Consumer Energy Strategy
- The strategy sets targets for solar and battery uptake and progresses disclosure
- A new Home Energy Saver Scheme offering energy and rebates will launch in 2025
Brighte, a leading Australian green technology company that operates at the intersection of finance, technology, and sustainability, welcomes the NSW Government's newly announced Consumer Energy Strategy.
The comprehensive plan, which commits $290 million in new funding and outlines 50 actions to help reduce energy bills and increase uptake of energy-saving technologies, represents a significant step forward in NSW's clean energy transition.
Nigel Freitas, Head of Government, Enterprise and Corporate Affairs at Brighte, applauded the strategy's consumer-centric approach: "Putting consumers at the centre is absolutely the right approach to accelerate this transition and get it right - it needs to be consumer led and government supported. The NSW Government has shown real leadership in recognising that households and small businesses are key players in our clean energy future."
Brighte particularly commends the strategy's groundbreaking targets for solar and battery uptake. "Setting Australia's first targets for solar and battery uptake is a game-changer," said Freitas. "It recognises the crucial role that households play in our energy system in generating, storing and sharing energy. This forward-thinking approach will significantly contribute to grid stability and accelerate our transition to clean energy."
The company also expressed strong support for the new $238.9m Home Energy Saver Program, which will provide incentives and rebates for eligible households.
"The Home Energy Saver Program is a crucial initiative that addresses one of the biggest barriers to clean energy adoption - the upfront cost," Freitas explained. "Our experience in other jurisdictions has consistently shown that when governments lean in with financial support, communities respond enthusiastically. This program will make clean energy technologies more accessible to a broader range of households, driving adoption and helping to reduce energy bills across NSW."
Brighte's platform and accredited vendor network has been used to support and successfully deliver similar government initiatives, including the $280 million ACT Sustainable Household Scheme and the $50 million Energy Saver Loan Scheme
Brighte looks forward to working alongside the NSW Government and other stakeholders to support the implementation of this strategy and help accelerate the state's transition to clean, affordable energy.
