Solar savings calculator

Our solar savings calculator is intended to help estimate how much Australian homeowners might save on their energy bill if they choose to get solar installed. We use a few basic inputs:

  • Your most recent electricity bill

  • Your location

  • A rough estimate of how much time you spend at home consuming energy during daylight hours.

From there, we use publicly available data on climate, energy costs, and solar generation in your region, as well as internal pricing data, to indicate a savings figure.

How it works

  1. We estimate your average energy usage from your bill & location

  2. Apply a seasonality estimate to your usage from your postcode & the current time of year

  3. Choose a solar system size that would theoretically significantly offset your energy usage

  4. Estimate how much power it would generate on an average day in your region

  5. Calculate how much of this generated power you might use, vs how much you might feed back into the grid.

  6. Estimate how much your new bill might be, based on your consumption habits, your bill amount, and average feed-in tariffs in your region.

  7. Estimate how much you might save with this new bill vs your existing bill.

Factors such as shading, roof angle, weather, and your specific energy consumption may vary the amount you may stand to save. We also have together a guide to assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions.

Results received from these calculators are designed for comparative purposes only and are based on the information you have provided and input. They are provided as an estimate only and as a general guide for the potential savings and benefits of installing and using solar panels financed with Brighte. Cost savings may vary depending on such things as location, installation cost variations, your choice of product and other variables which may affect the final results. The estimates produced by these calculators may not be correct for your personal situation; For example, base rates and feed-in tariff rates are subject to change, which will impact on the potential benefits you will receive. The proportion of your energy you consume during daylight solar generation hours will also have an impact on the potential savings you may receive. We give no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability and completeness of any information, or calculations provided by use of the calculator and do not accept any liability for loss or damage whatsoever which may be attributed to reliance on or use of the calculators. We cannot be responsible for the accuracy of these numbers or information you enter or how you may interpret this information. You need to assess this information and the results yourself and determine whether this product is appropriate for your needs or get advice from a solar industry professional.
