How to get started

Step 1: Find a supplier

Use the Brighte Marketplace to review a personalised list of local vendors that can help you install your desired product.

Step 2: Get a quote

You can request quotes from multiple suppliers. So don't be afraid to shop around.

Step 3: Apply for finance

Once you’ve found your preferred supplier, let them know you would like to participate in the Sustainable Household Scheme and they will start the loan process on your behalf. Brighte will then contact you to apply for the Sustainable Household Scheme's 0% interest loan.

That’s it! Once approved for finance, your chosen vendor will take care of the installation process for you.

Am I eligible for the Scheme?

Eligibility requirements are unique to each category. But to help you navigate the ins and outs of the scheme, the ACT government have put together guidelines which covers the eligibility requirements for each category.

What is the Home Energy Support rebate?

Eligible households approved under the Home Energy Support Program can access up to $5,000 in rebates and up to $10,000 in an interest-free loan. This means the total support available from the ACT Government is $15,000.

Eligible households may be able to receive:

  • one rebate of 50% of the total installation price, up to a maximum rebate of $2,500, for rooftop solar, and
  • one rebate of 50% of the total installation price, up to a maximum rebate of $2,500, for:
    • reverse cycle heating and cooling
    • hot water heat pumps
    • electric stove tops
    • ceiling insulation

How do I find the Unimproved Value (UV) of my property?

You can find the Unimproved Value (UV) of your property by visiting Access Canberra and entering in the address for which you intend to install on.

What do I need to apply for the Loan?

Finance is our bread and butter. We’ve made it easy for you to apply online (or over the phone). To apply, you’ll need to provide:

  • Be 18 years or over and an Australian resident
  • Have an Australian driver's licence, passport or Medicare card
  • Provide your own email address and mobile number
What are the fees for the loan product?

As part of this Scheme Brighte has developed an exclusive product that is only accessible for ACT Sustainable Household Scheme participants.

Below is the fee structure:

  • 0% Interest Loan
  • $0 establishment fee
  • $0 weekly account keeping fee
  • $0 introducer fee
  • $4.99 late payment fee may be applied if you miss a repayment (late fees are capped at $49.90/year)
  • Fortnightly repayments
  • 2-10 year loan terms with fortnightly repayments.
Can I borrow more with Brighte above the $15K ACT SHS Loan?

If your job is above the $15,000 cap you can certainly choose to apply for additional funding with Brighte. Simply request this when discussing your payment options with your chosen Brighte vendor.

Please note, this will be treated as a separate loan application, interest charges and fees will apply on funds borrowed above the $15,000 cap and will be subject to our lending criteria and terms & conditions.
