Credit Underwriter (6-month contract)

About the Role
- Assess credit applications with delegated underwriting authority in accordance with Company policies and within the commercial risk environment
- Manage all aspects of the credit underwriting process within delegated lending authority – including verifying application data, analysing credit reports, and property searches.
- Provide sound, high-quality recommendations to management on complex deals
- Assess and review the credit and fraud risk of customer applications and ensure applications are compliant
- Manage daily workflow for credit analysis to ensure all SLA’s are adhered to
- Act as a point of escalation between sales and application’s team
- Increase the efficiency and accuracy of our processes through automation and assist in drafting risk policies
- Support the Senior Manager of Credit & Lending Operations in relation to any project or ad hoc matters
What You'll Bring
- Sound experience with credit in financial services
- Lending delegation experience is essential to your success in this role
- You have had exposure to stages of the credit approval process including customer engagement
- You bring an analytical mindset and confident in your decision-making skills
- You have the ability to identify opportunities with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability with your direct and wider team and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of implications for working within a regulated environment
- You are cool, calm, collected and adept at managing competing priorities
- Understanding of relevant regulatory legislation under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act (2001) (ASIC Act), Competition and Consumer Act, The Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and Privacy Act; and National Consumer Credit Protection Act as well as Australian Privacy Principles
